What is Visions?

Visions is a Certified Student Organization (CSO)  at Kennesaw State University. We are a Student Art Society founded by students on the principle of spreading awareness and involvement of the visual arts on campus and in the community.

How long has Visions been around?

Visions was founded in 1983 by Roberta Griffin and Patrick Taylor. We are proud to have been promoting the arts at KSU for the past 35 years!

Do I have to be an Art Major to be a member?

No! Visions is an organization open to all KSU students! We are committed to creating a welcoming environment for all members, new and old! Don't worry, you don't have to be an artist– if you have an interest in the arts, we'd love you to join us!

How do I become a member?

We are happy to announce our new online membership enrollment! Memberships can now be purchased online in our shop! Just make sure to fill out the necessary information attached to the form. If you're uncomfortable with paying online, you can find one of the Visions Officers or visit our cubicle to fill out a form and pay in person. We take cash, check, debit and credit!

Why do I have to pay a membership fee?

Visions is a Kennesaw State Certified Student Organization (CSO) and we hold fundraisers regularly to make sure we can do all of the fun things we plan each semester. However, dues ensure that all of our members are able to see the club do what they would like for it to do. We use the funds collected from dues to plan trips across the state and country, provide visiting artists, host events in our gallery, visit local museums and galleries, and provide members with the opportunity to be immersed in the art world! However, we know funds are tight as college students, and some people might want to check us out before committing to a membership, so we offer a free Honorary Membership to anyone interested!

How often do I have to pay dues?

Visions dues are collected at the beginning of every Fall Semester or during the submission to the annual juried exhibition. Members will still receive the full benefits attached to the Voting Membership.

When do you have meetings?

We hold regular member meetings at least once a month. These meetings usually cover organizational topics, events we have planned, event ideas, and topics that require voting. We also take suggestions and opinions from members during this time!

How do I show my work in the Visions Gallery?

The Visions Gallery has regular exhibitions. If you visit the Visions Gallery page, there will be information on current and upcoming exhibitions and directions for submissions. Honorary Members may be subjected to an entry fee. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our Gallery Director, April Borchelt, by going to the Gallery Contact page and submitting the form attached.

How do I receive cords for graduation?

All Voting Members of Visions have the opportunity to receive cords! Members that volunteer hours every semester will receive cords when they graduate. You can sign up for volunteer positions with a Visions Officer. Volunteer tasks comprise of: participating in fundraising events, helping hang or take down shows in the Visions Gallery, helping organize and set up Visions sponsored events, carpooling to local museums and galleries, or helping promote our club or volunteering your time in any way!

Where can I find out meeting times or dates of events?

We are constantly updating our calendar, and new events are added regularly! You can visit the Events page to find out what events we have coming up!

How can I become more involved in Visions?

We are constantly in need of help, since our club is steadily growing! There are many opportunities to participate and volunteer within Visions, but if you are interested in helping out more directly, find a Visions Officer or send us an email!

How can I become a Visions Officer?

Visions holds annual elections for officers at the end of the Spring Semester. We start taking officer applications early in the spring, so if you're interested in a position, find an Officer or send us an email! We like to start training our new officers as soon as possible, so they will be well prepared for the upcoming year. Officer positions require an exceptional level of commitment, so if you think you have what it takes to be an Officer, then don't hesitate to get involved!
